When Arizona is mentioned, most people conjure-up visions of desert, cactus and arid land. Of course the serenity of the Sonoran Desert is strikingly beautiful with its stately Saguaro, majestic mountains and desert flora.

Canyon Lake, East of Scottsdale, Arizona

There's much to see and enjoy in the Greater Phoenix and Scottsdale area that is within close driving distance. Spectacular sights, adventure, cultural experience and recreation abounds in every direction. If water recreation is your thing, the lakes of Canyon, Saguaro, and Pleasant are very close by. Not too far is the gorgeous Apache Lake and Roosevelt. And tubing the Salt River is one of the most popular past-times.

But there is so much more. Parts of Arizona have an abundance of snowfall. The ski slopes at the Snow Bowl, Sunrise and Mount Lemmon are active playgrounds in the winter. The White Mountain areas are thickly forested with with trout lakes, streams and meadows of wildflowers.

Northern Arizona boasts the largest stand of Ponderosa Pine in the country and four distinct colorful seasons. Bounding elk, deer and antelope freely graze the landscape. The cool pine country is the summer getaway for the desert dwellers of the desert cities. Hiking, biking and golf doesn't get much better.

The drive from Sedona up Oak Creek Canyon has been called one of the most scenic drives in America. And then there is the Grand Canyon, one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
