Scottsdale Civic Center MallThe Civic Center Mall in downtown Scottsdale is one of the city’s most outstanding districts. All of the other districts are great too, but most have their own unique flavor that appeals only to a select group of like-minded people. The Civic Center Mall has a little something for everyone and this makes it one of the best places for visitors to spend a day in Scottsdale. You could probably even say that the Civic Center Mall is the hub of Scottsdale. It’s right in the middle of it all. It is where shops, stores, restaurants, museums, the library, and the city offices all come together. In addition, the district is extremely easy on the eyes thanks to its lush gardens, beautiful green lawns, and amazing shrubbery. It’s easy to spend a day (or two) solely in this little section of town. The Civic Center Mall stretches westward from 75th Avenue to Brown Avenue and south from Indian School Road to 2nd Street. Its easy-to-find location and its close proximity to other Scottsdale areas make it a popular destination for residents and tourist alike. Like was mentioned above, one of the best parts about the Civic Center Mall is that it incorporates a ton of open space and greenery into its layout. It’s kind of like finding your own little oasis in the middle of a sometimes hot, dry, and dusty city. A number of flower gardens, fountains, and public art pieces make taking a stroll here magical. In addition, there is a small lagoon that is oftentimes filled to the brim with swans - a sight that is definitely not very common elsewhere in Scottsdale. The Civic Center Mall is also the focal point of the performance arts scene in Scottsdale. The Center for Performing Art is located here and produces some great work. It is worth stopping in to see if there are any performances happening during your stay. The area’s love for the performing arts is also noticeable in a large amphitheater located in this district. Plays, shows, and performances of all kind take place here year round. Museums are also abundant in the Civic Center Mall. The Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Arts and the Scottsdale Historical Museum are both located here, and are sure to keep history buffs occupied. The city hall is also located here and its gorgeous stained-glass ceiling makes it worth a visit by out-of-town visitors. Close to the museums is the Civic Center Public Library. It’s a great place to relax, look around, and take a break from a busy vacation day. They also have an absolutely wonderful children’s library. If you’re in town with your young children, then you definitely want to stop here. There is no doubt that you will work up an appetite with all that the Civic Center Mall has to offer. Numerous restaurants dot the district’s streets and all are nice places to sit down to enjoy a meal. Most of the restaurants in this area are casual and most are child-friendly. Scottsdale is home to so many different districts that it can be hard to see them all. Though all of these areas are worth visiting, the Civic Center Mall is one that you absolutely don’t want to miss. Its unique blend of restaurants, sights, outdoor beauty, and cultural attractions will put a special touch on your Scottsdale vacation. |
