Life in Scottsdale

Scottsdale Entertainment District

Scottsdale, Arizona features a little something for everyone. It has a number of distinctly different districts to visit and the Entertainment District is one of these that appeals to a younger set. This doesn’t mean that there isn’t anything for older visitors or families to do though, just that once the nighttime hits, the younger crowd from the surrounding area rolls in to enjoy the district’s thriving nightlife and things tend to get a little wild.

The much-talked-about Entertainment District is located just south of Camelback Road and stretches south to 6th Avenue. On the west it slightly boarders the upscale 5th Avenue shopping district and the Brown & Stetson Business district touches its southwest corner. The eastern boarder of the Entertainment District is generally thought to be Miller Road. No matter its exact dimensions and borders, this Scottsdale district is packed full of some serious fun when the sun sets.

The fun starts during the daytime with a number of excellent restaurants to choose from for lunch or dinner. There are casual places where it is great to kick back and enjoy light meals in, and more upscale places that offer multiple course meals. There is also a great variety of types of food in the Entertainment District. You’ll easily find anything from Japanese to Mexican to traditional Southwest American food.

Once the evening rolls around and the sun starts to set, the Scottsdale Entertainment District takes on a whole new character. The many bars and clubs in the area open their doors and start serving drinks. The Entertainment District actually has the highest concentration of bars and lounges in the downtown area, so it is no wonder that it draws people from all around the Scottsdale AZ area.

If booming music, fancy drinks, and a wonderfully social environment is your idea of a good time, then this district needs to be on the top of your list of Scottsdale vacation stops. There are almost too many great bars and clubs to choose from, but a few of the most popular are El Hefe Super Macho Taqueria, Myst Nightclub, DJ’s Bar and Grill, and The Pussycat Lounge.

Many areas with high concentrations of drinking establishments can become rowdy the later into the night that it gets, but Scottsdale’s Entertainment District is a notable exception. The area is patrolled by a large number of police offers so you never have to fear late night trouble. In addition, the bars and nightclubs are all very professionally run and problems rarely arise. If you can’t drive home, don’t worry too much, because taxis oftentimes line the streets waiting to take people to their homes or hotels.

The Entertainment District definitely has a vibe and a flavor that is all its own. It is completely different from any other area of downtown Scottsdale. Best of all, its many businesses are open late into the night and it is close to other happening areas of downtown. If you’re in Scottsdale AZ on vacation, then you must make sure to check out this fun and action-packed section of town.
